The low-cost B&B-type lodging alternative for individual travelers in season and groups year-round.
A Birch Bay Lions Club project in cooperation with Whatcom County Parks & Recreation.

Located in Birch Bay, Washington 8 miles south of the Canadian border.

The Birch Bay Hostel & Guesthouse is located in Beautiful Birch Bay Washington, just south of the Canadian border.  It serves Bellingham, Blaine, Birch Bay and Ferndale areas.  The Birch Bay Hostel & Guesthouse offers private rooms, dormitory style rooms with 3 or 4 beds per room and family style rooms.  Our Common room offers a library, games and puzzles, TV with VCR & DVD players.  Our Kitchen is fully equipped and has all the cookware and dishes you would need to make yourself a snack or a full meal.  Remember, we provide the space, you provide the food. (see the diagram of the Hostel for more detail.)

Located in Bay Horizon Park (also known as Lions Camp Horizon Park), this hostel is ideal for individuals, couples, families and groups of 5 to 30.  For groups larger than 30, Lions Camp Horizon Park has space available for up to 188 with kitchen and conference rooms.  Both are just a short distance from Birch Bay State Park and just blocks away from Birch Bay and it's wonderful beaches.

There is plenty of space on the grounds for a little frizbee or an evening stroll.  A quite spot to commune with the birds or enjoy a picnic at sunset.  Go hiking or biking around Birch Bay, lounge on the beach with a good book or break out for wider territory.  Just two hours away you can ski or climb the slopes of Mount Baker and spend sunny days fishing, hiking, and picnicking in the million-plus acres of Mount Baker National Forest.  Cycle on the flat terrain in the shadow of the Cascades or spend the morning in Bellingham; then return to Birch Bay to beach comb for agates, dig for clams or oysters, and enjoy swimming in the surprisingly warm waters of Birch Bay.  After a two or three day visit you will be ready to trek up to Vancouver B. C. or head south to Seattle.

Come enjoy our homey atmosphere and while enjoying the sites all at affordable prices!
